@bind1967 I went ahead and talked to an electrician. He said to use only 12 gauge extension wire under 50 feet or better yet use 10 gauge extension wire with this system to maintain best current and I went ahead and bought HF’s 1000 watt system because I was told the motors only run when needed. GOOD Luck and thanks again.

  3. bind1967 says:

@survivalist68 For now I am going to use a couple car batteries to give them a test drive and experiment with the technology. I will probably later get deep cycles for the battery bank if I expand or build a larger system.

  4. bind1967 says:

@survivalist68 Get the most powerful inverter you can afford if you plan to expand your system. in the future. Specs on the kit call for a minimum 300 watt inverter.

  5. survivalist68 says:

@bind1967 Let me know what deep cycle batteries you choose by cost too. I liked Sam’s price.

  6. bind1967 says:

@survivalist68 you are welcome .. i got 2 of them to try out :)

Hey thanks for your videos. Just bought the kit from HF. Would you get the 1000 watt inverter from HF or Northern tool?

@VAspeed3 I started out with 18 watts and kept adding panels and batteries . I am now at 150 watts. Check out my video “Solar power Jamaica DIY”

  22. VAspeed3 says:

@Lanny615 I understand; I’m glad it works for you. 45 watts won’t even begin to do me any good here.
What can you run besides a light or two on 45 watts? You must have it charging a battery, since, even in Jamaica, the sun presumably does not shine at night when you actually need the lights to work.

  23. Lanny615 says:

@VAspeed3 my little system runs my lights, we have frequent power outages in Jamaica so im never without lights in the house. Whenever we have a hurricane or storm, i still got lights and other things working. I cant wait to upgrade till my whole house runs on solar/wind. My cool toy is my little trail bike…lol

  24. VAspeed3 says:

@Lanny615 Well, I don’t know what electricity will cost in 25 years, nor does anyone else, but what does that have to do with PV panels you buy NOW? If you just want them because they are a cool toy, more power to you, but don’t fool yourself into thinking you’ve made anything other than an irrational purchase.

  25. Lanny615 says:

@VAspeed3 and what do you think we would be paying for electricity in 25 years? I say with inflation, they should pay for themselves in far less. Greetings from sunny Jamaica.
